What is a Communications Scientist?
A Communications Scientist studies patterns in how people communicate, using evidence and observation to understand what builds trust, clarity, and effective action in real situations. With that data, I then, design communication frameworks for people who have to work together to succeed.
My background is in social research, communications, and learning + development. With 15 years of experience and having led over 4,000 workshops, my expertise sits at the intersection of empathy and execution. We get granular about their goals, name what’s misaligned, and implement communication practices they actually remember to use.
Through research-informed sessions and professional workshops like The Clarity Lab, I work with individual contributors and leaders across in-office, remote, and hybrid environments in almost every industry. Every engagement is grounded in evidence, engaging, and effective.
When people consistently apply what they learn in these workshops and sessions, collaboration becomes easier and a healthy, productive culture is born. That’s the goal.
How I think about communication + culture
My approach examines how people actually experience communication at work — how it feels, what stands out, what makes them clam up, etc.
Culture is the outcome of how we communicate — be it good or bad. It’s the everyday signals, decisions, and conversations that shape how we show up and work together. My superpower is helping people decide to communicate more thoughtfully until it becomes second nature.
How I show Up
At times, I’m a strategist, helping leaders clarify direction and make sense of complexity. Some days, I’m an architect, designing communication and learning systems that can scale and hold up over time. I step in as a consultant when teams need perspective and pattern recognition, and as an implementation partner when ideas need to turn into real practices and standard operating procedures. When continuity is a priority, I show up as a customer success manager, focused on adoption, follow-through, and what happens after the session ends.
This flexibility allows me to meet teams where they are and guide them forward with practical tips.
How communication Transforms Outcomes
Communication isn’t just what we say. It’s our writing and designs, in meetings and presentations, in emails, and everyday interactions. It’s in how instructions are given, how feedback is offered, how people are welcomed, and what what they see when they leave. My expertise comes from years of studying to how these everyday choices shape understanding, behavior, and connection.
When people understand the signals they’re sending + receiving, conversations improve, collaboration becomes easier, and teams function with more trust.
These workshops + sessions teach people how to communicate with intention, build additional skills, and create environments where people know how to show up and work well together.
